As of February 2026, the Delhi Government and State Names Authority, in coordination with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), have officially approved the renaming of 9 metro stations. These updates are intended to better reflect local geography, cultural heritage, and regional identities, making navigation more intuitive for daily commuters.
List of Renamed Stations
The routing engine at MetroGo has already been updated to reflect these changes. The stations currently operating or under final construction have been renamed as follows:
- Pitampura (Red Line) is now Madhuban Chowk.
- Mayur Vihar Pocket 1 (Pink Line) is now Shri Ram Mandir Mayur Vihar.
- Udyog Bhawan (Yellow Line) is now Seva Teerth.
- Sonia Vihar (Phase 4 Pink Line Ext) is now Nanaksar-Sonia Vihar.
- Jagatpur Village (Phase 4 Pink Line Ext) is now Jagatpur-Wazirabad.
Phase IV Station Updates
Additionally, several upcoming stations belonging to the under-construction Phase IV expansion corridors (such as the Magenta Line extension) have received modified names before they officially open to the public. These include:
- North Pitampura is now Haiderpur Village.
- Prashant Vihar is now Uttari Pitampura-Prashant Vihar.
- Derawal Nagar is now Nanak Pyau-Derawal Nagar.
- Khanpur is now Khanpur-Vayusainabad.
- West Enclave is now Mangolpur Kalan-West Enclave.
Impact on Commuters
DMRC is currently updating all physical signs, digital route maps, and automated train announcements to reflect the new nomenclature. If you are accustomed to the old names, do not worry—MetroGo's search engine has been updated with "smart aliases." Searching for "Pitampura" or "Udyog Bhawan" will automatically route you to their new corresponding stations!
